Edelman UK, the global communications firm, has appointed Wes Ball as Director within its Advocacy and Public Affairs team.
Wes will join the Advocacy and Public Affairs leadership team led by Luciana Berger, Managing Director, and will work closely with Edelman Smithfield, the specialist capital markets and financial services communications team, to provide integrated financial communications support to Edelman’s clients.
Before joining Edelman, Wes spent five years heading up the Financial Conduct Authority’s public affairs team where he led the regulator’s wide and varied engagement with Parliament and politicians across the UK. In this role he managed the team that wrote the Woolard Review into Unsecured Credit which set out a pathway to a sustainable and safe credit market. Before this Wes was a government special adviser where he worked on landmark legislation and white papers. He was also Director of the Parliamentary Labour Party where he helped the party’s senior politicians develop its policy platform and worked with the civil service on preparations for Government. Wes was a contributor to the definitive academic study of the 2017 General Election and to the soon-to-be-published edition reviewing the 2019 election.
